Prof José Ignacio Latorre is the Chief Researcher of the Quantum Research Centre at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where he is helping construct the first quantum computer in the region. A Full Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Barcelona (on leave), Prof Latorre is a founder of Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual and a founder of the NNPDF collaboration. He has written over 130 research papers on particle physics and quantum information, and has directed 13 PhD theses. Prof Latorre obtained his PhD in Particle Physics from the University of Barcelona and did postdoctoral research at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen.
